Boys Basketball Team on a Roll!!!!

The Boys JV Basketball Team finished up a great week winning all 3 games!! The boys even beat a very tough Old Quarry team in an exciting 43-42 finish!

Congratulations to the Spartans on their impressive come from behind victory over Westview on Thursday! The Spartans were down 12-2 to start the game and ended up getting a 45-33 victory!

Athletic Banquet....

On Thursday, November 3rd we had our annual fall banquet. It was a great night, and the biggest banquet we have ever seen at Lakeview...The athletes were recognized for their achievements and Mr. Rodda was recognized for his 30 years of coaching cross country at Lakeview!

Congratulations to everyone who was involved in making the night such a success....It was clear that all of the kids had great seasons and all of the coaches really enjoyed coaching their wonderful athletes!!

Volleyball Tournament!!!

Congratulations to Ms. Nhylen and the varsity volleyball team on an incredible season and to winning the tournament last Saturday! I was proud to be at the tournament and see the girls play, and I can say that the girls really impressed me on how they displyed teamwork, sportsmanship, talent and the heart of a champion! WAY TO GO SPARTANS!!!

Lakeview Athletics...

Congratulations to the Football Team on their 22-16 victory over Gower Monday! The Spartans won their last 3 games in a row and finshed 2nd in conference! It was a great season and the boys showed continuous improvement and had a great time doing so!!! I would like to thank our Lakeview alumni Kevin Raher and Marty Lyman for helping us coach the boys this year...They did an outstanding job and made me proud to have been their coach and teacher just a few years ago!

I would also like to congratulate Mr. Rodda and Mr. Urbas as well as the boys Cross Country team for an outstanding season...The boys team finished 1st in conference and 3rd in the entire state!!! What a great finale for Mr. Rodda on an excellent career as Lakeviews cross country coach!!!! He will be missed next year!

Lastly I would like to congratulate Ms. Nyhlen and Mrs. Wrezinski as well as the Girl's volleyball teams on their PERFECT, UNDEFEATED seasons!!! I don't remember both Volleyball teams doing that great in one season....Good luck at the conference tournament!

The Spartans continued their winning ways with a great win, in the rain Thursday against Lisle! The Spartans dominated the line of scrimmage and won 20-6!!!

Football Game vs. Eisenhower!

The Spartans played the Generals on Wednesday night at Downers Grove South and though the boys lost 20-6 it was certainly an experience they will not soon forget! I would like to thank everyone who helped supervise the game, the band for performing and the cheerleaders! A special thanks to Mr. Dodd who really organized this great event and made it all happen! Mr. Dodd was also the announcer that night and did a Fantastic Job!

Congratulations to the Spartan Football Team on their impressive 20-0 victory over Eisenhower on Tuesday! The Spartan Defense held Eisenhower to just one first down while the offense moved the ball effectively the entire game and dominated the time of possession battle!

Fitness Testing...

The students completed their Indoor Fitness Test this week and a big congratulations to Danny O. for performing 14 pullups! Frank L. for getting an 8.5 on the shuttle run and Eddie L. for getting a score of 80 situps in 1 minute!!!

New Units!

The 7th and 8th graders have started Soccer and Badminton...While the 6th graders will be doing Soccer, Softball and Badminton!

Pack The Place...

Lakeviews annual "Pack The Place" will be taking place this year on February 2nd and February 9th! On the 2nd the Boys will be playing Butler and on the 9th the Girls will be playing Eisenhower. We look forward to another big turn out and exciting games!

Intramurals...

Morning Intramurals has started and the boys are playing hard and having a great time paying Hockey and Basketball.

Basketball Intramurals also as started and those boys are doing well also!

It has been proven that kids who are active and exercise do better in school! ~ So it is great to see so many kids involved with sports and/or intramurals!!!

Sportsmanship!

With the Varsity Basketball Season underway, I would like to take this time to remind everyone the importance of good sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is defined as "acting towards others in an honest, straightforward, and dignified manner even when others do not play fairly." Let us remember and make a commitment to respect all players, officials, coaches and adults - not only on the athletic court but on the court of life as well...
