Congratulations to the Boys JV Basketball Team as they took 1st place in the conference! After 3 years of 8-2 records and ending up in 2nd place, the Spartans came up big this year with their 2nd championship in 5 years!

It has been my sincere pleasure coaching the boys this year and it is sad to see the season end. I am proud of the whole team on their effort, sportsmanship and determination they have showed this season. We were undersized in nearly every game but our hearts were not!

7th grade PE!

The 7th graders have started square dancing this week and did some line dancing today! They are doing a great job and will be ready for Ballroom Dancing next year!

BASKETBALL TEAM DOES IT AGAIN!

The boys won two more this week with exciting wins over Westmont and Eisenhower! There are two more games left this season and the Spartans are aiming for a perfect 10-0 record!

Congratulations to the Boys Basketball Team on their 6-0 start! The Boys played two tough games this week but managed to come out on top in both of them! The Spartans are now the only undefeated team in the conference! Way To Go Spartans!

JV BASKETBALL

The Spartans will be challenged this week as we play the high scoring Burr Ridge team (which is undefeated also) and Wednesday we go to Lisle to face an another undefeated team. Good Luck Spartans!

8th Graders are BALLROOM DANCING!

The 8th graders started Ballroom Dance today and are off to a great start! Mrs. Garvey was very impressed with the 2nd hour class!!!

Congratulations to the Boys Team as they won their first two games against Cass and Jefferson! This week the Spartans will be away at Old Quarry on Wednesday and at Butler on Thursday.

7th and 8th grade PE!

The 7th and 8th graders have begun their Bowling and Volleyball units and are doing an Awesome job! We will be going to the Bowling Alley on November 20th with the 7th grade and November 21st with the 8th grade!

8th graders - Ballroom Dancing is right around the corner - starts December 1st!!!

6th Grade PE!

The 6th graders have started weightlifting and seem to be real excited about it! It has been nice with all of our new equipment on the stage!

CANDY SALE!!!

The 2008 Athletic Fund Raiser is now over, though we do have a few people who still need to turn in their money. I would like to congratulate all of the students and parents who helped make this year's sale such a huge success!

I talked to Mr. Rambis(the first Athletic Director) the other day and told him how much candy we have sold and he said "he never had a sale that big!" Again, thanks to everyone for all of your hard work!

A special thanks to Ms. Nyhlen for helping me with the sale and to Mr.Dodd for his Awesome motivational speaches to his classes! BRAVO!

Fall Athletic Banquet 2008!

Last night was our fall banquet and everything really went great! The food was brought in by Papa Passeros and was fantastic! The athletes were honored for all of their hard work and special awards were given out! Hats off to everyone involved!

Halloween Party!

Friday the 31st is our annual 6th grade Halloween Party! We will have fun games with food and drinks! It should be spooktacular!!!

Candy Sale!

So far their has been an unbelievable amount of people wanting to sell candy!! I have had to order another 200 cases from Mr. Cahill! The coaches and PE Department really appreciate all of the students and parents work in raising money for the district athletic program!

Students have been told (several times) to only take what they can sell, as returned candy is frowned upon!!

Athletic Banquet- October 29th @ 6:30.

We will be having our Fall Banquet next Wednesday honoring all of our Fall Athletes. Students received the forms and they are due this Friday. Papa Passeros will be catering the event and it will include salads, mostaccioli, broasted chicken, Italian Sausage, bread and brownies! Different soft drinks will also be available. Price is $10 per person and if you want to attend but do not want to eat, that will be fine also.

Congratulations to the Lakeview Football Team!

Coach Novotny and I could not have been happier with this year's Team! The boys really worked hard, played hard, played together well, showed great sportsmanship and had a lot of fun doing it! We finished 4-2 and our only losses coming to a tough Cass team! This is a team we will never forget! Way to Go Spartans!

Flag Football!

The 7th and 8th graders have started their flag football games and are having a great time! We could not have asked for better weather so far this fall!

Candy Sale!

The athletic department will be having their annual fundraiser starting October 20th. This year we will be selling Candy. We hope that all athletes who have enjoyed the athletic program here will try and sell this year. The sale is open to everyone and there will be some great cash prizes!

Mile Time!!

We ran the mile again on Friday and Amanda T. did it in 5:46 - that is an incredible achievement for a sixth grader!! Way to Go Amanda! Fall Fitness testing is over now and students should have brought home their scores to show their parents! Great Effort Everyone!

Golf Trips!!

Last Thursday and Friday the 7th and 8th graders went to Zigfield Troy to use the driving range, play Miniature Golf and some of the 8th graders did the 9 hole course! We had great weather and we had a great time there! The owners commented on how well behaved the Lakeview students were!! Nice job everyone!

Lakeview Football.........

A big congratulations to the boys as they won their second game of the season with an impressive 36-8 victory over Gower! The boys have been improving every day and look forward to playing Lisle this Thursday.

Fitness Testing!

This week all students will begin fitness testing, this includes pull-ups, sit-ups, sit and reach, shuttle run, and the mile run. Students will get a Presidential Fitness Score Sheet that they will bring home showing their scores and the national averages. the Mile Run will be this Friday, September 19th!

SPARTANS WIN OPENER 20-8 OVER GOWER!

A big congratulations to the football team on their impressive 20-8 come from behind victory over Gower Tuesday! It was a great team win and all the boys played very well considering we only had 4 full practices. Louis P. was the player of the game!

Annual Softball Tournament!

Today the 7th and 8th graders started the annual Softball Tournamnet! All of the teams picked their names and strarted their first games. Good Luck to Everyone!

Softball and Hockey!

The 7th/8th graders have started their Softball and Hockey games this week! There have already been some awesome plays and the students have shown good teamwork and sportsmanship! Next week we start the annual Softball Tournament!

Shuttle Run Champs!

Congratulations to Chad K. and John B. as they had the quickest times in our agility test. They both scored and amazing 8.6 seconds in the 30 foot shuttle run!!

Congratulations to Steven B. as he set the record for pull-ups with an amazing 19! He spent more time doing the pull-ups than he does doing RUBICS CUBE!!

Best Mile Times!

Congratulations to 6th grader Scott H. for his 6:12 mile time. Congratulations to 7th grader Andrew J. on his 6:49 mile time. 8th grader Andy K. Had the best time in the entire school with an incredible 5:57! Nice Job Boys!

PRESIDENTIAL PHYSICAL FITNESS TESTING!

The students have begun their spring fitness testing this week. They are (hopefully) improving on their fall scores in the mile run, sit and reach, pull-ups, shuttle run and sit-ups.

Each student will be bringing home a scoresheet that shows the national averages for their age group. Parents will sign the sheet and the students will bring it back to their teachers for an easy 10 points! Good luck to everyone!

Weight Room Additions!!

We are in the process of making some nice additions to our Weight Room for next school year! We have received all new dumbells, Good Samaritan hospital is donating 7 Weight Machines, including leg curl, leg extension and lat pulldown machines. We have put in a proposal for new benches and some weighted bars as well. The Stage is going to look like a mini fitness center next year!!

In addition we are ordering 20 new Steps for our Step Aerobic Fitness Activities.

These additions are exciting and should really enhance our fitness activities for the next school year.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH!!!

Congatulations to Josh R.! He received the STUDENT OF THE MONTH AWARD for April! Josh had all perfect run scores and won the singles Badminton Tournament! Way to go Josh!

LOCKS!!! LOST LOCKS!!! BROKEN LOCKS!!!

If your child lost his or her lock or cannot open their lock They need to see Mr. Dodd if they are a boy or Ms. Nyhlen if they are a girl. Mr. Dodd organizes and distributes locks and they cost $5.00 for a replacement. Ms. Nyhlen organizes and distributes the locks for the girls lockeroom.

Extra Credit.....

I did not have a single taker last time, so I will try again.... if you can tell me if Table Tennis is an Olympic Sport or not, I will give you 5 extra credit points. Exra credit is limited to the first 5 people who can tell me!

Athletic Banquet

The Spring Banquet is being held this year on Wednesday March 19th at 6:30. This year the banquet is being catered by Carrabbas Restaurant. Awards are being presented for all of our JV and Varsity Basketball Players and Cheerleaders!

8th Grade Fitness Plans...

The 8th grade students are desingning their own personal fitness plans. The plans include aerobic, strength training and flexibility exercises and are due by March 17th.

PING PONG AND PICKLEBALL!

The PE Department is kicking off the new trimester with two wonderful Activities Ping Pong and Pickleball! The 6th grade will also be doing Whiffleball!

Basketball Intramurals.....

We will have after school Intramurals Tuesday, January 29th this week.

Basketball Intramurals

Basketball Intramurals will strat on Wednesday January 16th. It will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 each day. The boys who are signing up should have a schedule and a permission slip. During intramurals we will work on skills and play games. Please have permission slip turned in by January 14th.

Morning Intramurals

Morning Intramurals will start on tuesday January 15th and will be held on every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday until Spring Break. We will start at 7:00 each morning and will play either Hockey or basketball.
